Maps
- Our house on the Turku Region Mapservice (sic), an excellent online map of Turku and the surrounding areas.
- Google Maps
- Google Earth doesn't have Piikkiönmetsä in it, but the Tomi Junnila & Hanne Martelius placemark will show the approximate location of our house.
- Mapblast doesn't know Piikkiönmetsä yet either.
- The Fonecta map service is available only in Finnish and it isn't possible to link directly to an address, but the maps themselves are very good.

Public transport
Almost all the bus lines between Turku and Helsinki (including the lines between Turku and Salo, Paimio, Kemiö/Taalintehdas, and Tammisaari/Hanko) drive on road 110 only a few hundred meters from our house. Please note, however, that the express buses will only stop in the center of Piikkiö, about 3,5 km from our house, but regular buses stop close by.
You should take the bus to Raadelma (which is the name of the stop). The distance from the Turku bus station is 13 km, so according to the current price lists of Matkahuolto, the fare is 3,80 € one way (May 16, 2006). When boarding from the Uudenmaantulli stop, you should get below the 12 km fare limit, which reduces the price to 3,10 €.
Turku to Piikkiö
The bus schedules below have been collected in April 2007. The TLO bus line 111 (which departs from the Market Place) and several Vainion liikenne bus lines (which depart from the central bus station in Turku) drive to us. It is worth double checking the schedules from the operators' web pages, or you can make itinerary queries on the Matkahuolto web pages. For some reason, the Matkahuolto queries don't find all the buses for Raadelma, it is better to search for Tuorla instead.

By bike
There is an excellent bike path all the way from central Turku to
our yard. Take the bike path along road 110, and about 12 km from the
city centre, when you see signs indicating Helsinki to both straight
ahead and to the left, and Raadelma on the right, turn left just
before a wood-panelled power transformer (the intersection of Raadelmaantie
and Helsingintie will still be some 200 m away). A steep yet short rise will
end up on Juliantie, and our house will be about 150 to 200 m
away. Read more detailed directions below.
From Turku, on the motorway
Exit the motorway at exit 7 and turn right onto Raadelmaantie. Stay on Raadelmaantie for 900 m and turn right onto Juliantie. The intersection is roughly 50 m before Helsingintie (road 110).
After about 200 m, Juliantie makes a turn to the right, and there is an intersection to the left to Emminpolku. Stay on Juliantie for another 150 m, and you will come to the corner of Almanpolku and Juliantie. Our house is right on the corner, on the left side of both Almanpolku and Juliantie. There is a number sign (2) on the corner of the house.
From Turku, on Helsingintie
About a kilometer after the Tuorla observatory, you will come to the intersection of Helsingintie and Raadelmaantie. The street signs on Helsingintie indicate that Raadelma is on the right (near the intersection you will also note a stone wall on the right side of the road, with the text Raadelma in metal letters). Turn left at the intersection onto Raadelmaantie, and again left after about 50 m. Continue with the directions above from Juliantie onwards.
From Helsinki, on the motorway
Exit the motorway at exit 7 and turn left onto Raadelmaantie. Stay on Raadelmaantie for 1200 m and turn right onto Juliantie. Continue with the directions above from Juliantie onwards.
From Helsinki, on Helsingintie
Roughly 3.5 km after the center of Piikkiö or 1 km after the Runko primary school (a light-coloured brick building on the right side of Helsingintie, with a sports field and a parking lot in front), you will come to the intersection of Raadelmaantie and Helsingintie. Turn right onto Raadelmaantie, and left again onto Juliantie some 50 m after the first intersection. Continue with the directions above from Juliantie onwards.
From the North
From the North, the easiest route is to take road 40 (Ohikulkutie) towards Piikkiö (generally the road signs will indicate only Helsinki), then take the motorway (road 1) from exit 8 (Kirismäki, turn right) towards Turku. Use the directions from Helsinki on the motorway, exit 7 is roughly 3 km from exit 8.
From the South
Sorry, but I don't know where you can anchor your boat. There is a small marina in Raadelma, in the narrows opposite the castle ruins in Kuusisto, but I don't know who to contact to get permission to land there.
From far away
There is a (very) small airfield in Tuorla just 1 km from our house. If you need to land your plane, please contact Paimion ilmailuyhdistys for details.
Using normal airlines, you must generally take a flight first to Helsinki-Vantaa, and from there to Turku airport. There are direct flights to Turku from Copenhagen and Stockholm also. From the Turku airport, follow the directions above for coming from the North. Note that from Helsinki-Vantaa airport, it is often faster and cheaper to just take the Expressbus to Piikkiö than to wait for a connecting flight to Turku and then take a taxi to Piikkiö.
From really far away
If you wish to land your spaceship in the Tuorla airfield, you will have to contact Finavia (Ilmailulaitos), the Countryside College of Southwest Finland (whose fields you will most likely ruin in the process), Paimion ilmailuyhdistys, and probably a few more authorities for permission beforehand.
